Chapter 2
We will be rapidly covering sections 2.3-2.5 of the textbook for those who have not seen this material already. These sections were covered in Math 306 the previous two quarters. Please read/review these sections to get yourself up to speed.
2.3: 1ab,2ab,3a,4ab,13,16,21
- For 1b, just find the characteristic polyniomial. The eigenvalues are real but difficult to compute - you need Cardano's formulas.
- Solutions
2.4: 1,4,6,7,8
2.5: 1ab,2ab,3a,4ab,8,13d,15 (use 13),18 (see example 53 page 115),19
- Most of the work for 1-4 was already done in section 3 HW
- Solutions
